Information derived from GMC webpage
On Saturday 18 March 2023 at 10 am (GMT). PLAB 1 places will be open to book for the following dates across all locations:
- 15 February 2024
- 23 May 2024
Places for November 2023 will also be open in locations where possible
You’ll need to access GMC Online by 10 am (GMT) using this LINK (rather than the usual link)
As usual, you should expect some delays on the day due to increased demand for places. More information will be provided about the booking process by email before 18 March.
Further releases will be done later in 2023 for those not eligible to book during the current release. This may also include places in February 2024 and May 2024.
English language evidence needed
A valid english language evidence is required by midnight (GMT) on 9 March 2023. It will then be reviewed by the end of the day on 15 March 2023 and outcome sent via email.
Your English language evidence must be less than two years old on the day you sit PLAB 1.
2024 bookings and the UKMLA
In 2024, international medical graduates who have sat the PLAB test will start to take the UK Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA).
In early 2024, as part of the preparation to transition from PLAB to the MLA, the PLAB blueprint will be replaced with the MLA content map. If you book a PLAB 1 place in 2024, this may mean your test could be based on the MLA content map. If this applies to your test, you will be contacted at least three months before your test date.
Questions and standards currently used are not expected to change. The experience for candidates on the test day will remain the same, and the introduction of the MLA content map shouldn’t impact any preparation that has already been done for the test.
Visit the MLA webpages for more information about what the MLA will involve. When the MLA is introduced, GMC will continue to accept passes in PLAB 1 and PLAB 2, and the transition to the MLA will not interrupt the registration process.
