LAST UPDATE – 03/11/2020 ( All information is from GMC site)
Guidelines following the nee England Lockdown
PLAB 1 tests will continue to run in the UK and around the world, in line with advice from governments in the countries where exams are held. Stringent hygiene and social distancing measures are in place. In some locations, we may need to use different venues. If your venue is affected we will contact you, so please check your emails carefully.
OCTOBER 2020 PLAB 1 EXAM UPDATE
Due to the ongoing disruption coronavirus is causing across the world, the British Council has cancelled PLAB 1 tests in Toronto on 15 October 2020 and 5 November 2020. This is because the venue cannot safely run the tests, in line with their government’s public health advice.
If your test has been cancelled, you’ll receive an automatic refund to the card you used for booking. We’ll try to process all refunds within ten working days, but it could take slightly longer due to the high demand we’re experiencing.
BOOKING PLAB 1
PLAB 1 tests in October and November 2020 are currently going ahead as planned. For 2021 plab 1 booking updates, check HERE
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT
Because not all countries are currently holding IELTS exams, we’ll accept the online IELTS indicator score as an additional option when booking your test.
We’ll review this temporary arrangement when more information about the re-opening of test centres is available. You’ll still need to demonstrate evidence of your English language skills through an IELTS or OET academic test before you apply to join the register.
And where appropriate, we’ll extend the validity of IELTS and OET certificates for those who’ve been disadvantaged by PLAB cancellations and whose date is soon to expire. Please email GMC if you’re affected, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
CHANGES TO THE PLAB 1 EXAM
Some changes have had to be introduced to enable the exam to go ahead. This includes desks being spread out, smaller groups of candidates sitting the exam and everyone wearing face coverings in some locations. The content of the assessment will remain the same, but the exam will be slightly shorter – two-and-a-half hours rather than three – and will have 30 less questions.
